Pitch Analytics Premier League Panic Index Update: MW10

It’s time to revisit the ever-popular Pitch Analytics Panic Index. Three weeks can feel like a lifetime in the league, and our latest update from November 3rd shows just how volatile the season has been. So, who’s keeping their cool, and who’s inching closer to full-blown panic?

Top of the Table: Liverpool on Cruise Control

There’s no panic at Anfield at all right now. Arne Slot has come in and implemented an excellent system that has Liverpool top of the league. With only two minor blips this season, they are flying and in pole position for the title.

Manchester City/Arsenal

Injuries have plagued these squads and their results are starting to slip as a result. Both Manchester City and Arsenal lost last weekend, and panic is starting to set in. These teams will still be very successful and challenge for the Premier League Title, but today there’s definitely some concerns.

Aston Villa’s Steady Nerves Aston Villa has shifted slightly closer to success while keeping panic levels low, reflecting solid performances that have kept them in contention for the Champions League spots. Villa is proving they’re a serious threat for European football again this season.

Chelsea and Brighton: Keeping Calm and Kicking On Chelsea and Brighton are still in decent spirits. Chelsea, holding onto a Champions League spot, sits comfortably with low panic levels as the team starts to click under Maresca. Brighton is still within the European conversation, hanging around mid-table and staying grounded despite a few tough matches. For both teams, it’s business as usual.

The Rise of Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth’s success

Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth have climbed up the success chart and reduced their panic level after some strong performances, landing them in excellent places in the table.

The Nervous Mid-Table Movers: Fulham, Brentford, and Newcastle Fulham and Brentford have shifted upward but are still within the panic zone. They’ve each shown flashes of resilience, but inconsistency keeps them on edge. Newcastle’s position hasn’t changed much either. They’re stuck in the middle, likely reflecting the pressure of balancing a domestic campaign with European commitments. Their fan base is cautiously optimistic, but not without a dose of nervousness.

Southampton, Wolves, and Manchester United in Crisis Mode Down in the high-panic, low-success quadrant, Southampton and Wolves are sinking further into despair. Wolves’ poor form has them rock-bottom, which is a painful sight for their fans. Meanwhile, Manchester United is flirting with outright panic too, lingering far from where they’d hoped to be this season. With performances that barely scrape past relegation form, their hopes for European football are slipping away, and the pressure on Ten Hag is mounting.

Surprising Moves: Everton’s Escape and Crystal Palace’s Slide In an unexpected twist, Everton has moved up slightly, reducing their panic as they pick up some valuable points. It’s not a huge leap, but they’re inching away from the red zone. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, has started to slide, joining the teams nervously glancing over their shoulders. With Zaha’s absence leaving a void, they’re struggling to find consistency and have slipped towards the danger end of the chart.

Bottom Line The November Panic Index gives us a snapshot of where teams stand as we approach the season’s mid-point. Liverpool fans are as calm as ever, while teams like Forest are riding the wave of recent success. But for Wolves, Southampton, and Manchester United, the heat is on as the panic levels rise. With plenty of season left, there’s time for any team to reverse their fortunes – or fall deeper into the chaos.

Stay tuned, as our Panic Index will continue to track every twist and turn in this wild Premier League season!
