Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Pitch Analytics is a soccer data and analytics platform. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at contact@pitchanalytics.com.

2. What We Collect

Server logs (always active)

This site is hosted on Google Cloud Run. Every request to our servers is automatically logged by Google Cloud infrastructure. These logs include your IP address, browser type (user agent), the page you requested, and the date and time of the request. This is standard web server behaviour and is necessary to operate the service securely.

Analytics cookies (with your consent only)

If you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are viewed, how long sessions last, and where traffic comes from. GA4 sets cookies in your browser and sends this data to Google's servers. No GA4 code runs unless you explicitly accept.

3. Why We Collect It

  • Server logs: Legitimate interest — to maintain security, diagnose errors, and operate the service reliably.
  • Analytics: Consent — to understand usage patterns and improve the product. We only activate this after you accept.

4. Cookies We Set

CookiePurposeDuration
pa-consentStores your cookie preference (accepted or declined)1 year
_ga, _ga_*Google Analytics — distinguishes unique visitorsUp to 2 years

GA4 cookies are only set if you accept. The pa-consent cookie is always set once you make a choice, and contains no personal data.

5. Who We Share Data With

  • Google Cloud (infrastructure): Our hosting provider. Server logs are processed by Google Cloud Run and Cloud Logging under Google's data processing terms.
  • Google Analytics: If you accept cookies, anonymised usage data is sent to Google's analytics platform. Google may process this data in the US.

We do not sell your data or share it with any other third parties.

6. Data Retention

  • Server logs: Retained by Google Cloud Logging for 30 days by default, then automatically deleted.
  • GA4 data: Retained for 26 months (Google Analytics default), then automatically deleted.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Erasure of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restriction of processing in certain circumstances
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Data portability in a machine-readable format
  • Withdraw consent for analytics at any time (see below)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@pitchanalytics.com.

8. How to Opt Out

You can withdraw your analytics consent at any time by:

  • Clearing the pa-consent cookie in your browser settings — the consent banner will reappear on your next visit.
  • Using your browser's private/incognito mode — no cookies are stored across sessions.
  • Installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
